Ceramics Making a Flower

This video focuses on making flowers as they are in real life. Make sure that students do that last step of lifting the petals to reach for the sun. It really makes them look alive.:) My students are beginning high school students in my ceramics class who have never had any experience with clay. This lesson is also perfect for adults beginning with clay. This lesson is given in my class and the students make the object individually while I demonstrate the steps on a projector called an ELMO. I have between 155 and 170 ceramics students in classes of about 40 students each. During "Demo Week" we make 5 objects per each hour and a half class and I grade their efforts before the class ends that day. I think that these lessons would work equally well with middle school students and elementary school age students since these are beginning ceramics projects.
