Star Battle puzzles introduction, tutorial and strategy, part 1 (aka Two Not Touch in NY Times)

Star Battle is a logic puzzle where a square grid is divided into regions, and your task is to place stars in the grid so that every row, every column and every outlined region contains exactly two stars... and no two starred squares can touch, not even diagonally. Similar to nonograms/Picross, solving requires figuring out which squares are filled and which must be empty.

Star Battle apps are available, and the New York Times publishes the puzzle daily under the name Two Not Touch.

In this video, I explain the rules and strategy of Star Battle, illustrating how to make progress on individual regions of various shapes and sizes. Further videos will illustrate strategies for solving entire puzzles.
