Today on our 2017 Hyundai Tuscan, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha 00:00:04 T-one vehicle wiring harness, part number 118501. Now this is what we're going to get in the kit. You're going to get your power wire, full pull flat, your modular box that has your ground wire, your rubber grommet, this is going to be for your driver's side tail lights, this is going to be the connection for your passenger's side tail lights, this is going to be a fuse holder for your 10 amp fuse. First thing to start our installation, we're going to take out our driver's side tail light. We're going to take a screwdriver and we're just going to pop this cap. We're gaining access to these two bolts. Take a phillips-head screwdriver and we're just going to gently pull out. What we want to take off, this wiring harness right here.

All you do is push in on that and it releases it. You're going to do the same process to your passenger's side. Now per our instructions it says to take out the floor covering and to access the rubber grommet that's down here inside the vehicle. In doing that this would hang out of the vehicle through the tailgate. Our customer has requested we just run it right down through our bumper by our tail light and run it across so that this is outside on the hitch all the time. The first thing we're going to do is on our power wire, we're going to attach a butt connector, heat shrink butt connector. Now, your kit comes, if you decide to do it this way your kits going to come with a plastic one.

I like to, anything that's going to be outside the vehicle I like to use a heat shrink butt connector, it just kind of helps to protect it better from the weathering. We're going to put our heat shrink butt connector on our red wire, crimp it. We're going to take one end of our black wire, trim it, and we're going to put it on the other end. What I'm going to do, instead of feeding all that wiring down, I have a string and I just have a nut from the shop. I'm just going to drop it down there to the bottom. I'm going to take my wiring, make a loop through it, and pull our wiring up like this. Put it on until you hear it click. You're going to take the other end and you're going to hook it onto your tail light.

Now, from here we can reinstall our tail light. Then reinstall your cover. Since we're not going to be using this grommet, we're going to go ahead and get rid of it. We're going to take our T-connector that's going to our passenger side and our 4-way, and we're going to feed it up behind the existing plastic bumper holders here. Now, we're just going to feed our 4-way through the first one and our passenger side T-connector, we're going to take it behind all of them. I'm going to go up and over the bumper brace, because of the exhaust I don't want my wire crossing over the exhaust here cuz of the heat. Next what we're going to do is we're going to mount the converter box.

You want to make sure you have a clean space to do it, that whatever you're mounting to is going to be clean. Take your 2-sided tape, press it firmly in place there, find a spot and then press it firmly into place. We're going to take the wires that are here and we're going to zip tie them to these existing wires. What I'm going to do is I'm just going to feed a little bit here just to kind of make sure when I zip tie this up I have enough here that when I connect to my trailer I'm not pulling it too tight. Now that we have that I'm going to go ahead and zip tie the rest of this. Now we're going to repeat the same process to pull our wiring up here on the passenger's side. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take my ground wire and just going to mount it to the metal here. You just want to put it in tight enough where it doesn't move. Since our customer wanted their wiring outside, we went ahead and mounted a four pole bracket and short bracket which you can find at etrailer.com. I'm going to go ahead and run this power wire. Since the power wire is up against this metal here, I'm going to take a little bit of wire loom and then I'm going to run it up to the front to the positive side of the battery. Let me get that ran real quick and I'll show you how I did it. What I did with the power wire is you want to stay away from any moving parts. What I like to do I try to find a brake line or existing wiring from the manufacture and try to follow that. Right here we follow the break line up, come past this spring, break lines up here, follow the side of the fuel tank here, and fed it underneath of this. You can't see it but it's actually run up top on here,
