I remember this suman long time ago when I was just a child. My mother used to make it once in a while for our snacks and sometimes I just get it outside the street stores where most of them were sold. This is a very typical Filipino sweet rice cake wrap in banana leaves. With this I enjoyed to be connected with my roots.
This suman normally originates from the Philippines and is made from glutinous sticky rice prepared with coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaf.
This can also be made and ate without banana leaves just like a simple rice cake. It can also be called and similar to tagalog biko. However when you wrap the heated banana leaves to it, it adds smoked flavor that makes it taste good.
