INCREDIBLE GLACIER TREK IN A SNOWSTORM (Jasper National Park Canada)

One of the best things
One of the best things to do in Jasper, Alberta Canada is exploring the glaciers of the Columbia Icefield. And, what better way to explore these incredible glaciers than to get up close and personal by hiking on the ice yourself?
Today, we are hosted by Rockaboo Mountain Adventures for a trek on the beautiful Athabasca Glacier, which is one of the many glaciers of the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park. From REPELLING INTO AN ICE CAVE, watching glacial rivers and waterfalls, and trekking on unpredictable ice, this is by far one of the coolest things we’ve ever done (and a must-do in Jasper National Park).
The team at Rockaboo knows this patch of ice really well and led us to the best spots while educating us on all things glacier along the way. Our guides, Amelie and Frank, were great! From gearing us up, sharing facts about the glaciers, and keeping us safe during our trek, we couldn’t have asked for a better team.
A glacier trek may not have come to mind for your trip to Jasper, Canada, but it needs to be at the top of your list soon! Unfortunately, due to global warming, the Athabasca Glacier is losing around 20 feet of vertical ice per year. Scientists predict the glacier will disappear in our lifetime, leaving nothing but a memory captured in videos like this one. So, make sure you visit the Athabasca Glacier ASAP and learn more about the impact of climate change on our beautiful planet.
