How To Color Grade in 2022

Over the last few months I’ve realized something…

The way I learned color grading back in the day has been the same way I’ve approached color grades on even my latest projects.

And, not only that, but MOST of the color training I see on YouTube or even paid courses teach the same way.

It’s almost like we learned how the color controls worked back in the 2000’s and then just called it good while all the cameras and software became more advanced.

Well I feel like it’s time for a change.

Here are my 5 tips for color grading in 2022.  

- Biggest thing is color spaces - This does most of the work, and in an objective way.
- Big adjustments first.  We Get happy with all the tools, but we don’t need to use ALL those tools
- Establish a look beforehand helps save time
- Photo-Accurate tools - more natural results
- Fixed node tree
