In the late 1980s Epiphone's
In the late 1980s Epiphone's primary manufacture location moved from Japan to Korea. Although still Gibson's budget line, new instruments were introduced to compete in the 80s Strat rip-off metal market. After about ten years, Gibson started copying their own products and marketing them as Epiphones as opposed to their competitor's products. It was a step in the right direction, anyway...
