"Adon Olam" is a traditional Hebrew hymn that is recited in Jewish liturgy. Its authorship is not definitively known, but has been attributed to Solomon Ibn Gabriel of Andalusia and the Hai Gaon of Baghdad among others. Its origins certainly date back to the Middle Ages. Until today it is widely sung and recited in Jewish religious services and has become an important part of Jewish musical tradition. It is also one of the traditional hymns most often set to music. The melodies that carried its words spread from Persia in the East, all throughout European communities to Spain and North Africa in the west. The melody in this arrangement is based on an old Armenian song called "Nubar Nubar".
