2007 Chevrolet Silverado Clunk Noise Fix

I have had this Silverado for about a year and it has always had a clunking noise when shifting from neutral to drive, when starting from a stop, when shifting from 1st to 2nd, and when hitting bumps in the road. I took it to the dealer where they diagnosed and charged me $200 to "Lube and Service Splines"  on the input shaft. I also replaced the universal joints in the drive shaft. These fixes did nothing to change the sound. I just drove the truck extremely mild to minimize the embarrassing noise coming from this nice truck. There are some other noises on forums I've read that are more than likely transmission, spline, or rear end issues. I just wanted to post this because it was definitely my problem and at least it could be something to check.
