I love living abroad, but being an expat comes with its challenges. Let’s talk about some of the unexpected truths about being an expat! These are some points you can consider if you’re thinking about moving to a different country :)
I have called myself both an expat and immigrant. But as with a lot of phenomena, more than one word exists to describe one thing, and I chose to use expat for this particular video 😊 I've met lots of people who have moved temporarily abroad who have referred to themselves as expats as well as immigrants, but I've not yet heard any of my friends or contacts who are economic immigrants or were forcibly displaced refer to themselves as an expat. But if they want to, I don't see the problem - I'm simply pointing out that I've come from a position of privilege 👍
