Emu Calling Sound

The emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is Australia's largest native bird and the second largest flightless bird in the world after the ostrich, its ratit relative. Emu is the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. The Emu subspecies in Tasmania became extinct after the arrival of Europeans in Australia in 1788, and its distribution on the Australian mainland was also continuously pressured by human activity.

In the past, many Emus could be found on the east coast of Australia, but now they are rare there. In contrast, agriculture and the supply of water for livestock in the continent's interior have provided new habitats for emus in dry areas. Although Emu are still widely distributed in mainland Australia, they tend to avoid crowded or overly dry areas, as well as dense forests.

Emus have soft brown fur and can reach two meters in height and weigh 45 kilograms. They are migratory animals that travel long distances in search of food, including various types of plants and insects. If needed, Emus can run at speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. Emus are also raised for their meat, oil and skins.
