Guine Tidé means 'the value of women'. This rhythm is played those from the Susu ethnic group in Guinea, who live in the west of Guinea on the coast . This rhythm is played to say thank you to women and to recognise their roles in the society of Guinea and West Africa.
It is played at baptisms in memory and recognition of the role of women in childbirth. It is played in the period leading up to the baby-naming ceremony (which is a minimum of 1 week after childbirth). It is also played after the passing (death) of a woman in the family. It will be played during the time when the body is being prepared for burial and also at the funeral.
The rhythm will have swing as LSM, so the gap after the downbeat will be slightly longer. Any solos from Gidamba, which is from the same family of rhythms will work well with this rhythm.
