As part of the New Year celebrations on the Ebisu Shrine in Kyoto, the day after the Toka Ebisu Taisai (January 10) a celebration called Nokori Fuku (残り福), meaning "Remaining Fortune" takes place.

This celebration is special because the Maiko (Geisha apprentices) from famous Geisha districts of Kyoto take part on the ceremonies.

In this day, business people, store owners and entire families visit the Shrine and pray for prosperity in the New Year. It is also a good opportunity to see a real Maiko, a difficult thing to do if you are in Kyoto only for a short time.

People coming to the festival receive an amulet made of bamboo leaves called Kitcho Sasa from the Maiko, and also receive a piece of "Fuku Mochi" or lucky rice cake.
