Beef Biryani
Ingredients:
1 pound of beef, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 tablespoon of oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 teaspoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
1 cup of yogurt
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of cilantro leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot or wok over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until softened and golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute more.
2. Add the beef, cumin, coriander, chili powder, turmeric, and garam masala to the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
3. Add the yogurt and water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
4. Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve with rice.
Tips:
To make the beef biryani even more flavorful, marinate the beef in a mixture of yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala for several hours or overnight before cooking.
If you don't have time to marinate the beef, you can skip that step and simply cook the beef in the pot with the onions, garlic, and spices until browned.
Serve the beef biryani with basmati rice, naan, or roti. 1
