The leader of the Bosnian Serbs back then was Radovan Karadzic.
He planned the 1995 Srebrenica Massacre, where almost 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. in a campaign of genocide against Bosnian Muslims.
On Wednesday, the 73-year old lost his appeal against a 40-year sentence.
A UN-court in The Hague increased that it to life behind bars.
