Renault KWID is a new entry level big car for india and for that matter the entire world. The hatch with an SUV stance. We get you the first and exclusive drive of the Renault Kwid. The KWID will be launching soon in this month of September and will compete with Maruti Alto 800. The manufacturer claims that this soon to be launched hatchback will carry a starting price tag of just around Rs. 3.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
Exteriors:
Kwid is a conventional looking hatchback. The front facade of Kwid has bold radiator grille with the company’s logo on it. The front also looks like the Duster SUV, which gives the sporty appeal to it. The headlamps have C-shaped design with rounded fog lamps. The car also gets black protective cladding all around the car. Coming to the side profile, the window lines are high and are quite large in size. The rear has a simple design housing a large tail lamp. Overall, the design of the Kwid is rugged.
Interiors:
On the inside, the dashboard gets single tone dull gray color which is made up of plastic material. There is a 6-inch infotainment system with touchscreen. In RXT variant, it comes with Bluetooth, Aux-in, USB connectivity features. The instrument cluster of Kwid is all digital. There are a lot of storage places in the car. The rear space is also decent but sitting three people in rear seat will be a bit uncomfortable. It gets 300 litres of boot space which can be further increased up to 1115 litres.
Engine and Performance:
The petrol engine has 3-cylinder which generates a power of 54 PS with maximum torque of 74 Nm. The engine is mated with 5-speed manual gearbox. The gear ratios are quite well for use in the city. The fuel efficiency of Kwid is 25.17 kmpl. It has the best ride quality in A-segment hatches. The 180mm of ground clearance means it can be treated like an SUV and can be taken to the broken roads with an ease. Kwid suffers from the body roll when we put it from corner. In terms of safety, the top end model comes with driver side airbag.
