A playthrough of Hi Tech Expressions' 1993 game for the Sega Genesis, Barbie: Super Model.
Now that Labor Day is done and the worst summer ever comes to a close, I thought it might be nice to offer a reminder of those sun-kissed, pre-virus summer days of yore.
You remember, back when you used to sit in a cafe beneath the chandelier, rocking a cute red dress and some bomb-ass hair, daydreaming about running over lost packages with your pink Corvette on Rodeo Drive?
The whole thing is more than a bit absurd. Barbie moves about various hazard-filled paths to get to a fashion show rehearsal, and once she has learned her moves, she has to make it back for the real performance. Along the way, she can take a chance at a fashion-based mini-game if she picks up something that is pink. For fans of pink, this must all be terribly exciting.
I wouldn't really know. I don't much care for pink, myself.
BUT, as foolish as the whole thing is, that soundtrack is unexpectedly awesome. How did a Barbie game end up with this music? On the Genesis and on the SNES, it's embarrassingly great to listen to.
