School districts cracking down on students and parents as absenteeism surges

Truancy and absenteeism among school students is now the highest it has ever been, with almost 15 million students chronically absent or missing 18 days of school following the Covid-19 pandemic. To fight the problem school districts are taking some critical measures with fines, community service and even threats of jail time for parents.
