Scotland is an autonomous part of the United Kingdom. The country consists of nearly eight hundred islands, most of which are uninhabited. Scotland is one of the most interesting countries to travel to. It is bordered by England on the south, the Atlantic Ocean on the west, and the North Sea on the east. Because of its advantageous location, the landscapes of Scotland are very diverse. There are mountains with long valleys, rugged coastal cliffs, mysterious caves, majestic green hills. Many of them have medieval castles.
You can reach Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, from London by high-speed train in just 4 hours. So if you're going to travel to England it's worth planning a trip to Scotland. It does not take long, but the experience will be long-lasting. It is in Edinburgh that you will find the famous University of Edinburgh, one of the top 30 universities in the world.
