HOW TO CHECK USB PORTS VERSION

Have you ever wonder what USB version your computer or laptop has? If you're transfer files to your external hard drive and the transfer speed is agonizingly slow, then it could mean that you've connected it to the wrong USB port! Watch this 1 minute video to learn identify your USB port versions from Windows or by visually looking at the USB ports!

The port name will indicate the USB version:
USB 1.1 ports will usually contain "Universal Host" in the name.
USB 2.0 ports will contain both "Universal Host" and "Enhanced Host" in the name.
USB 3.0 ports will explicitly state "USB 3.0" in the name.
USB 3.1 and newer ports may indicate "USB 3.1" or "SuperSpeed+" in the name.

Physically determining USB versions
If you're unsure, you can often visually inspect your computer's ports:
USB 3.0 ports are typically colored blue or have a "SS" (SuperSpeed) logo near them, while older USB 2.0 ports are usually black or white.

TIP: always connect your external hard drives (SSD drive, USB Drive, etc.) to USB 3 ports or higher! And connect your mouse & keyboard to the lower version USB ports.
