Tympanic bearing edge machining.

A brief video showing the basic machining steps.   Video recorded 2015.  This video offered purely to assist those asking how this is done.  We are no longer crafting Guru Drums.

A standard radius cutter is used.  Cutter size should be selected allowing for sufficient shell / reinforcement ring thickness to accommodate the finished bearing edge form.

Of note - we only ever used this edge form on the resonant side of one drum series.  It was used in combination with a very rounded batter edge to give a lot of batter head control,  but a wide open resonant side.  The result was a very balanced acoustic delivery, but very well controlled batter side for close micing.
