She had a high-risk pregnancy that she did not expect. She was healthy, active, and took all the necessary precautions to have a great pregnancy, but due to circumstances, she ended up in a high risk pregnancy situation.

Keri loves to encourage mamas from a Christ-centered perspective. Check out her blog, The Beloved Mama where she has amazing words that will take you to a place of peace in your pregnancy.

Keri is a first time Mama, and she had some things happen in her pregnancy that she wasn't expecting. She had a smooth start to her pregnancy, but at her 20-week gestation anatomy scan, she received some heavy news. The doctor told her that her cervix was half the length of what it should be.

Her doctor was unsure whether she would go into labor early. Keri was monitored closely for 5 weeks with weekly internal ultrasounds. Her doctor prescribed Progesterone suppositories to hold her cervix. Then she was given the option to have a cerclage or vaginal pessary.

Keri chose the pessary, but her body rejected it. To her disappointment, the very active Keri was told to limit her activity. She was told that she could not even walk up the stairs or take her dog on walks. So, she spent most of your days sitting and resting. Her entire lifestyle changed. She had so many unknowns, and she was constantly thinking about a premature delivery. She had the sick feeling of “I could go into labor at any point!"

She wasn’t walking through what she thought she was going to walk through in her pregnancy. She had to lean on the Lord for so much. She had a prayer journal, she would listen to worship music, and lean into her community. She had to allow people to help her with daily things. She didn’t have all of the answers, but she knew that she had to put her hope and trust in Jesus.

She felt that she had no control over her body and baby inside of her body. She had to trust that God is in control, pray through it, listen to the doctor's guidance, and trust God whatever happened. She was asking God for a word for her baby. The Lord put ‘hope’ in her heart. She realized that she had to put every ounce of hope in the Lord, not in herself or her circumstances.

Keri admits that she was terrified through her pregnancy as she didn’t know what would happen; but God met Keri in those times, gave her peace, and gave her the people she needed for support. Her daughter delivered at 37 weeks and 5 days, and she was healthy.

Keri wants to encourage other Mamas with this word. Keri had to practice being still as God prepared her to be a mother. God knows every detail of your pregnancy. He uses every circumstance to prepare us for the season of being a mother. There is a purpose in the waiting and everything that happens in a Mama’s body. There is so much hope in the moments that are hard in pregnancy.

God gives us a hope that is out of this world no matter the circumstances. Your pregnancy may be different, but it is your story. There is so much beauty in it. God chose you to be your child’s mom. He knows how your heart needs to be shaped for this child. Be encouraged that God knows what He is doing and has a purpose in your pregnancy.
