China, a huge treasure chest that stimulates the adventurous spirit of remote explorers. When following an unfamiliar path, there are times when you encounter an unknown world that is difficult to believe is reality. Yanjin County (盐津县), called ‘China’s narrowest city’, is one such place. The city is located in a rugged canyon with the Guanhe River flowing through mountainous terrain with an average altitude of 1,600m. The sight of buildings over 4 to 5 stories tall lined up at the bottom of a precarious mountain slope is a strange sight that even curators who travel to remote areas have seen for the first time. Why do so many people come to live in this unstable land? The city's name, 'Yanjin', means 'salt port'. In the past, this place was not only a famous salt producing area, but also one of the important bases on the ancient Southern Silk Road. In the past, the first gateway that people crossing from the Central Plains to Yunnan encountered was Yanjin County's Duwu Temple. The road is five inches wide (approximately 150cm), so if you walk along the old road called Wuchidao, you will encounter traces of ancient people who headed out to the wide world carrying luggage and hopes on the backs of horses. Jiaotong City, where Yanjin County is located, has another special road. Baekhak Road runs along the steep cliffs. During the Qing Dynasty, this was the route used to transport copper, a local specialty, to avoid the strong waters of the Jinsa River. We meet people on the road that are as unusual as the scenery, from a couple on a date on a cliff path that is too risky for a single person to walk on, to a woman walking in high heels. Leaving Yanjin County behind, the place the curator visited was the village he was most looking forward to in Yunnan Province. This is Odeokdaegwawoncheonganggun (五德大锅圈天坑群), where eight households live inside a huge sinkhole with a diameter of 600m. A curator descends a cliff path for nearly two hours to reach the bottom of a sinkhole with a maximum depth of 150 meters. The closer I get to the village, the more my heart flutters. What kind of scenery will you encounter in this truly unknown village that no Korean has yet visited? #World Theme Travel #Remote China #Yunnan #Sichuan #China's Narrowest City #Yanjin County #Mountainside Cliff Road #Baekhak Station Road #Sinkhole Village #46 Bend Pass Road #Taoist Temple
