Traditional Thandai is an Indian cold drink prepared with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, watermelon kernels, rose petals, pepper, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar. It is native to India and is often associated with the Maha Shivaratri and Holi or Holla mahalla festival. It is most commonly consumed in north India. There are variants of thandai and the most common are badam (almond) thandai and bhang (cannabis) thandai. It is a nutritious drink that is packed with various nutrients. The nuts and seeds used in thandai, such as almonds, pistachios, and poppy seeds, are rich in healthy fats, protein, and fiber. Thandai also contains various vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Thandai powder is a flavor-packed blend of ground peppercorns, cardamom, fennel, poppy seeds, melon seeds, saffron, rose petals, cashews, almonds, and pistachios. It is used to make Thandai, the colorful, sweetly scented milk-based drink.

Almond milk, locally known as Sardai, is a traditional drink of summers in Pakistan. This energising and refreshing drink is prepared using a mixture of almonds, poppy seeds (khaskhash), hemp (hasheesh) and char maghaz (sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, water melon seeds, cantaloupe seeds).
