Making a Kaleidoscope

This podcast is showing the audience how to make a kaleidoscope in step by step formation. Jerry Pospisil is the former Director of Tryon Arts and Crafts School. One of the classes he teaches is how to make a kaleidoscope. We were lucky enough to film him teaching us how to make the kaleidoscope. Students can make kaleidoscopes differently by making the mirrors, reflectors, and marbles at the end different so when you look through them you see different shapes, sizes, and colors.  You assemble the mirrors in a triangle formation, tape them together, and slide them in the tube. The mirrors reflect the different colors and shapes when you look through the tube. Some have marbles at the end that you can turn to change the shapes and colors. Other kaleidoscopes you just turn them around to see the different reflections. It helps if you look through them in a highly lighted room. The tubes are made out of wood or glass and painted and designed differently. The shapes and colors are windows at the end of the tube. You look through the opposite end and the mirrors reflect the shapes and colors to your eyes.
