This video describes how to install a gear selector repair kit (3Q0713128) on a Mk7 Golf R (2015).
Note that this issue is commonplace on the VAG platform, and so this fix is likely to work on other types of Golf, VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat etc.
This video will explain what the issue is, and how to fix it.
There are two types of gear selector, and the video will explain how to tell which one yours is.
Their VW part numbers are 3Q0713128 (repair described in video) and 5Q0713128A (install guide here - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019...)
