This week Scott and I put in at the public boat ramp (No fee) in Astor, Florida on Route 40 and headed SOUTH on the St John's River to Blue Springs State Park...about 49 miles round trip.
The St John's River is the longest river in Florida and interesting enough, flows north, the only such river in Florida to do so. It flows from the St John Marshes south east of Orlando to the Atlantic Ocean in Jacksonville.
The St John's river is a blackwater river, commonly found in Florida. A blackwater river is a type of river with a slow-moving channel flowing through forested swamps or wetlands. As vegetation decays, tannins leach into the water, making a transparent, acidic water that is darkly stained, resembling black tea. (Wikipedia)
Scott and I both ride Yamaha FX Cruiser HO's and try to take a couple of adventure trips a month, usually resulting in a video that may assist other riders into taking a similar trip.
