Clausing 6913 Lathe Overview

The Clausing 6900 series lathe is a great USA made metal lathe. In this video I cover some of the main features and functions of the 6913 model clausing lathe. These are not as common as the smaller machines, but can still be found in good working condition. I found this one about a month ago and was able to bring it home a couple weeks ago. This is the model lathe that I first learned to chamber barrels on with a steady rest. This lathe will be used primarily for Gunsmith work, but is a great larger home size hobby lathe. The long bed gives a 48" between center capacity which allows larger work to be turned. It has a L-00 Spindle which is an upgrade from a threaded spindle on many of the smaller South Bend, Logan, and Craftsman Lathes. As long as the mating surfaces are nice and clean, it will give a very repeatable chuck mounting. This is a 3 phase machine and is currently being driven by a North America Phase Converter Co. Phase Converter. I chose this converter for the integrated power switch on the panel, and they use Baldor generator motors. I believe this combination allows for a top notch product at a very reasonable price.
