Learn how to play a D9 barre chord which is a moveable Dom9 (Dominant 9th) chord.

This lesson is from our series “Guitar Chords”
In this lesson I will show you how to play a moveable Dom9 (Dominant 9th) chord. I will show you the chord grip using a D9 but this shape can be moved anywhere on the fretboard. Moving the shape on the fretboard changes the root name of the chord but it remains a Dom9 chord. Whatever note is on the 5th string under your 2nd finger is the root note. So if you move this chord up two frets becomes an E9 because the 5th string 7th fret is an E note.
