Embutido Recipe

Embutido is a scrumptious Filipino meat and vegetable loaf made by covering and steaming a mixture of ground pork, carrot, eggs, bread crumbs, minced garlic, onion and evaporated milk. It has been seasoned with pepper, salt, raisins pickle and grated cheese. Additional fillings like hotdogs, boiled egg and cheese also can be added. It is well known dish for the holidays, and small gatherings, and Embutido can be enjoyed as everyday dish.

Embutido Ingredients

1 kl ground pork
1 large carrot (minced)
4 eggs
1 cup bread crumbs
1 large red bell pepper (minced)
1 small can evaporated milk
onions and garlic (minced)
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup raisins
1/4  - 1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1/2 cup grated cheese

Optional FILLING:
Hotdogs
Cheese
Hard-boiled eggs

PROCEDURE:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, carrot, bell pepper, pickle relish, onion, garlic and raisins. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add the grated cheese as well. Then, mix well.

2. In separate bowl, combine egg, milk and breadcrumbs. Mix well. Then pour to the meat mixture. Mix well until well-combined. To know if the taste is right, fry a small amount and taste. Adjust the salt and pepper as needed. Once ready, prepare to wrap.
