This was the messiest video to record :) but I sure hope you will find it helpful! I'll have to say spit testing isn't my favorite thing to do...and usually I stay further away from the ones being tested. We do this weekly for a few weeks after breeding alpacas. Each male is a bit different- we keep Tahoe on a lead but Callisto usually doesn't need to stay on lead when testing. Some girls spit the really yucky green stuff and others just pin their ears or do the air spit. Sorry about the confusion- when they "spit test" positive, it means either the breeding took and they are most likely pregnant OR they have ovulated and aren't receptive at the moment. It can also mean other things that makes them unreceptive. These girls spit tested positive. If negative, they will generally cush and be receptive to the male. www.WisteriaSuriRanch.com
