This Model 46 Kelly Tillage
This Model 46 Kelly Tillage System is drying out soil and controlling with a CL1/Spiked Disc Chain combination.
The Kelly Tillage System’s design allows the machine to work the top two inches of the soil. This exposes the top layer (brown dirt) to the air and sun, where it can absorb the suns energy, warming and airing the surface. Working only the surface layer of the soil, drying and improving trafficability for the planter is an immediate benefit. Crumbling the surface interrupts the capillary action that would go on to dry out the seedbed, preserving the moisture in the root zone where it is needed.
