This week's case comes on the heels of the Netflix's new documentary, "American Nightmare" which details one of the most bizarre kidnapping cases ever; the abduction of Denise Huskins. The story her boyfriend told of a home invasion that resulted in Denise being taken and then the story that Denise gave when she reappeared was so strange, that the police thought they both were lying. The case was named the "Gone Girl" case by the media as a hoax, one year prior to the Sherri Papini case.

The kidnapper, Matthew Muller, has been convicted of the crime.

So, obviously, I am not going to analyze the crime to figure out whodunit! But, it is such a rare crime, I want to talk about the offender, his methodology and criminal history, the victims, the police investigation, and the media.
You can see this three-part documentary on Netflix and you can also watch "Gone Girl" (on Prime Video and other places for payment) if you have the chance because will discuss that movie and its plot and how it relates to this crime. Also, I will talk about Sherri Papini in relation to hoaxes and this case.
