ACT English portion is very much like the TOEFL Structure & Written Expression. Test-takers have to identify errors or potential replacements for underlined portions of sentences in context. The difference between TOEFL ITP SWE is the essay context. Whereas TOEFL ITP has individual sentences with underlined parts, ACT English underlines parts of sentences contained in paragraphs in essays. There are a couple questions on ACT prep relating to cohesion and essay structure in addition to simple grammar questions. Grammatical errors include punctuation, subject-verb agreement, wordiness, assorted issues with gerunds and gerund phrases, doubling subjects, word choice, and more.

Dr. T moves through the English portion of the test identifying errors where they exist, and explaining in some depth why each answer is correct or incorrect. 45 minutes, 75 questions is plenty of time for this portion.
