This tunnel network is the way Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists travel through Gaza unseen, and smuggle, transport, and store weapons underground. These tunnels serve as fully functional headquarters for terrorist activities: gathering intelligence, planning attacks, and even orchestrating attacks remotely. Some of the tunnels span under the border into Israel, which terrorists have used over the years to infiltrate into Israel and carry out attacks on Israelis.
A large portion of annual humanitarian aid meant for civilians in Gaza is seized by Hamas and used instead for warfare: building and maintaining this hidden terrorist city.
