Reflections in a coordinate plane are exactly what they sound like! When a point, line segment, or shape is reflected over a line it creates a mirror image of itself.  I always like to think of a butterfly or a page being folded in half, where there is perfect symmetry.

All reflections maintain something called Rigid Motion.  This means that when a shape or line segments are reflected, the length and angles of all sides remain the same.
