COMPACT Magazine: Nancy Faeser Takes Action! Ban is a Major Blow to Far-Right Extremism
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has classified the magazine Compact as far-right and it is now banned from publication. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has banned the media company and Conspect Film GmbH. According to her ministry, law enforcement officers searched the organization's premises and homes of key figures, executives, and shareholders in Brandenburg, Hesse, Pirna in Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt this morning. The aim of the raid was to confiscate assets and evidence. A house in Falkensee, Brandenburg, listed in the magazine's imprint, was among the locations searched. Police officers seized magazine copies and technical equipment from the building. Compact's editor-in-chief, Jürgen Elsässer, condemned the move as an outrageous attack on press freedom, likening the current regime to the undemocratic SED regime. Faeser justified the ban by stating that Compact is a "central mouthpiece of the far-right scene," inciting hatred against Jews, people with migration backgrounds, and parliamentary democracy. The ban demonstrates action against intellectual arsonists fostering a climate of hate and violence towards refugees and migrants, aiming to overthrow the democratic state.
