Since its debut in 1996, the Audi A3 has been a pioneer in the premium compact car segment. Now, the latest iteration of the A3 elevates the game with a design that leans heavily into the future, bringing with it a suite of standard features that have been notably enhanced, alongside new material options and offerings. This iteration makes use of applications directly on the car’s display, offers unique options for daytime running lights, and introduces a flexible approach to adding car functions whenever desired, providing a personalized driving experience.
The exterior of the A3 sees familiar lines but with a fresh take. Notably, its front grille adopts the hexagonal shape seen in newer Audi models, flanked by larger air intakes and sporting the Audi emblem proudly at the front. The lighting also gets an upgrade with LED and matrix LED options that come with four custom daytime light designs. The rear gets a touch of the RS3’s influence, showcasing a new LED tail light feature, accented with black and mesh elements.
Step inside, and the A3 continues to impress with technology features carried over from the previous model, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital dashboard. However, there’s a new twist: access to certain basic functionalities now comes via a subscription model, covering essentials such as high-beam assist and smartphone integration.
Though these subscriptions start with the European A3, it's unclear if they will also be introduced to the American market with the 2025 launch. The interior retains its familiar layout but is updated with slimmer gear shifters, new fabric designs on the doors, and customizable cabin lighting offering 30 different colors.
Under the hood, the base European model comes equipped with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine that includes mild-hybrid technology, capable of producing 148 horsepower, and is available with either manual or automatic transmissions. A diesel version offers the same horsepower, and a plug-in hybrid is set to release later.
A standout addition is the A3 Allstreet, designed to mirror a crossover with its robust off-road appearance, highlighted by a matte black grille and protective trim around the wheel arches. It stands taller than the standard A3, promising a smoother ride, and comes with various wheel options.
Storage space is generous in both the Allstreet and the standard Sportback, with the ability to expand significantly when the rear seats are folded down. An electric tailgate adds convenience but is an optional feature.
As for pricing, Audi has yet to announce figures for the American market. In Europe, the Sportback's starting price is set at around €35,650, with the sedan and Allstreet versions slightly higher.
