The Zenfone 5Z is a really good phone because it’s got the fastest Snapdragon processor that there is and it’s the same one that’s in the Galaxy S9 and the OnePlus 6 as well. It is running the latest version of Android 8.0 Oreo. Options of 6 and 8 Gigs of RAM, expandable storage, fast charging, dual camera setup, 4k video recording @ 60 fps, hybrid SIM tray, and a really bright and beautiful 6.2 inch IPS LCD full HD+ display with an 90% screen to body ratio. So that’s pretty much a great phone already to begin with.
However, the Zenfone 5z has a couple of misses too -
Not certified for water resistance
Notch design
No smart AI assistant
No wireless charging
Asus Zenfone 5z design and build
The Zenfone 5z is a covered with Corning Gorilla Glass, both front and back and is encased in an aluminium body which makes it light (at 165 gms) and also thin at 7.9 mm. The 6.2 inch display does make the phone big and difficult for one handed use but at the same time gives you an immersive viewing experience. The phone does not have as tall a design as the Galaxy S9 and the S9 plus and is slightly wider which does make it a little less ergonomic.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Display
A massive 6.2 inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2246 pixels that lends the device a fluid wide 18.7:9 screen ratio which you get with the flagships such as the Galaxy S9 and the OnePlus 6.
Comes with auto brightness, and you also get some tweaks to adjust the display temperature and color gamut as per preference.
Asus Zenfone Software
Zenfone 5Z comes with Android 8.0.0 right out of the box and has the latest version of ZenUI which is v5 and it’s pretty light weight. It doesn’t come with too many pre-loaded stuff except for the basic Google suite of apps some Asus specific apps including Selfie Master.
Selfie master lets you apply real time beauty filter to your face and also lets you broadcast your selfie live in apps like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Powered by the latest Snapdragon 845, clocked at 2.7 GHz, is currently one of the most powerful smartphone processors. The Zenfone 5Z comes in 6 GB and 8 GB RAM options with varying internal storages – 64 GB/128GB/256 GB. The Antutu benchmark scores is comparable to that of Oneplus 6 and Galaxy S9 plus – clocking around 265000.

The Zenfone 5z has really invested a lot of time in improving their camera and ensuring that it is at par with its closest competitor – the OnePlus 6.

Overall, I think it’s a pretty phenomenal smartphone with most important flagship features well integrated and is offered at a price point which is such a sweet spot and not taken by any brand so far.
