Your choice in stamp type is important as each type of rubber stamp has unique features and benefits. We explain the differences between three popular types of stamps: wood-handled, self-inking, and pre-inked.
Wood Stamp: Our line of wood stamps is the most affordable available on Simply Stamps. A true classic, these traditional stamps are designed with quality craftsmanship. Wood handle stamps rely on your hand pressure to leave an imprint and require separate ink pads for the color. The separate ink pad allows multiple color and use options.
Self-inking: The self-inking stamp is the middle of the road workhorse and a space saver. Loaded and assembled with the ink cartridge already inside, these stamps are great for rapid stamping and will leave a crisp, clean impression every time. Cartridges can be changed and replaced.
Pre-inked: Pre-inked stamps use oil-based ink which permeates through the back of a specialized porous rubber. This process offers an excellent, crisp impression slightly superior to that produced by a self-inking stamp. Pre-inked stamps provide thousands of additional impressions before re-inking is required. The only drawback is that rapid impressions tend to fade as the ink needs a few seconds to be pulled through the die.
