There are many factors that influence the mass participation or personal participation in a certain activity whether they be family, cultural, religious or social influences they all have a role in encouraging or discouraging you from doing certain activities.
People Influence You
Whether it be your family, friends or role models in society you will be influenced by certain people in your life to take up or not engage in certain activities.
Some parents will discourage their children from enjoying certain activities because of factors like cost, transport or risk.
Your friends or peers will very often influence the decisions you make too. If all your friends are playing football in their free time chances are you'll join them! If none of your friends play sports then you probably don't either!
Your teachers will also play a strong role in influencing you. A good teacher will instil confidence and motivation to take up certain activities by encouraging people to join after school activities that they run.
The people who excel in their sporting fields to become professional athletes can very often influence and motivate younger generations to take up the sport too.
