Direct instruction is a teacher-directed teaching method. This means that the teacher stands in front of a classroom, and presents the information. The teachers give explicit, guided instructions to the students.The 6 functions (or steps) of direct instruction;1.Introduction/review,2.Present the new material,3.Guided Practice,4.Feedback and correctives,5.Independent practice,6.Evaluatio/review. For the Advantages of direct instructions, direct teaching is best for learning specific concepts or skills. The specificity of the objectives or learning targets also makes it easier for teachers to create assessment tests of high validity and high reliability. For the disadvantages, the structure of direct teaching can be rigid enough to hinder the creativity of the teacher.
