Our penultimate report in our "Forbidden Love" series takes us to northern Israel. Before she met Muhi in 1975, Ilana was part of a practicing Jewish family. Out of love for Muhi - and so that their children would be exempt from military service in Israel - Ilana converted to Islam. As a result, her brothers cut off all ties and haven't spoken to her since. Against all odds, Muhi and Ilana have been living as husband and wife for 40 years now. This is their story told in their own words.
A collaboration between Arte, RFI and FRANCE 24, "Forbidden Love" brings you the stories of modern-day "Romeo and Juliets", whose relationships are faced with major obstacles, be they religious, racial, political or social.
