My Engagement Ring from Costco

Today's video features my engagement ring which consists of 2 Round Brilliant cut diamonds of .5 carats each and 56 small diamonds along the side for a 1.5 TCW. This ring was purchased at Costco and is still available (in-store and online). I hope this video is informative for those who are in-market for engagement rings and are curious about Costco's policy and standards. For starters, all Costco diamond rings are VS2 or greater and color I or greater. They use their own appraisal service (not GIA), as does Tiffany (theirs is done in-house). For a quick check on market value, I recommend visiting Blue Nile, which is the largest online retailer of diamonds. From there you can select the carat size, cut, color, & clarity and they will give you an inventory listing of all available diamonds. For example I input my VS2 I-color diamond of .5 and the value approximated $1,000. There are two .5 diamonds in the center of this ring along with 56 small diamonds. From here I am able to gauge that Costco is very reasonably priced for the diamond quality and setting.

All rings from Costco come at at standard size 7 and if you look on their site, most rings are listed as "sizable within one size". Mine was in that category as well but when I took it to a local jeweler, they WERE able to size it down to a 5.5, no problem. It really depends on the setting so please don't take Costco's sizing recommendation for face value!

I had my ring re-sized at Fast Fix, which is a franchise chain store that has been around for 30+ years. It cost $80 and took approximately 1 hour. From what I understand it costs more to size UP versus size down, so please bear that in mind should you have it changed.
