The Netherlands to Increase Contribution to NATO Mission in Iraq

The Netherlands will increase its contribution to the NATO mission in Iraq in the coming years. This includes a company of infantry with the support of a total of 145 soldiers. The soldiers will be deployed for a year from 1 January 2024 to protect forces in Baghdad.

The mission is active at the request of Iraq. The Netherlands currently provides advisors and staff officers to strengthen the Iraqi security sector. This deployment will be extended until July 2025.
