Summary
I love the look of the A220 and was looking forward to my first ride in one.
My trip began at 4:30 am from the Towne Place Suites in nearby Chelsea. Living an hour from Logan Airport, I wanted to sleep in as much as possible for a 6:15 am departure. The hotel is fairly new, reasonably priced (or free with Marriott Bonvoy Visa points :) and has a free airport shuttle from 4 am to 1 am. You must call the front desk to arrange the shuttle; it doesn't run on a schedule.
Logan Airport
The airport was surprisingly busy at 5 AM. I had an electronic boarding pass and no bags to check. After 15 minutes I was through security and heading to the gate.
On the plane
For the trip to Atlanta I bought the Blue fare, which is one tier above Basic Blue. With Blue you get a checked bag and no change fee if rebooking or cancellation is necessary. This trip was on a travel credit from an earlier trip that I had to cancel so I didn't have to sold on this upgrade.
We boarded on time; I had seat 20A on the left side. JetBlue has a 32 inch seat pitch for Blue and Basic Blue, which is roomy by today's economy standards.
The in-flight entertainment system is modern with an enormous selection of entertainment and live TV. In fact, it would be perfectly fine for a much longer overseas flight. The WiFi is free and, once in flight, I was able to make a WiFi phone call with my iPhone just to see if I could. No talking of course, I called an automated time and temperature number back in NH.
Delays
After a few minutes I got the first of a series of flight delay notifications that eventually required us to deplane and use another jet. Fortunately it was an another A220. The notices came via email as well as the JetBlue app.
The replacement jet was an inbound flight that had to be deplaned and serviced. JetBlue handed out meal vouchers which was a nice surprise. I tracked down a bagel and coffee across from the Cape Air gate.
Takeoff
The A220 engines made their distinctive power up groan and we were on our way. Takeoff, climb, and cruise were normal.
We dodged some weather coming into Atlanta and had a routine landing.
After leaving the airplane I began the substantial walk to the exit. No moving walkways, its all foot power in Terminal T. Best to flag down a courtesy cart if a half mile walk is too long for you.
I followed the ground transportation signs, missed the ride share signs, and ended up at the taxi stand. The ride share exit is close to the taxi exit but down one level. Another 10 minutes of walking and I was ready for Lyft to take me to the Delta Museum.
Lyft heads-up
Lyft thinks the Delta Headquarters campus is the location of the Delta Museum. It isn't. The Museum road is slightly beyond the headquarters main entrance if you are going there from the airport.
