Curie was born on 7 November 1867 she was the youngest of five children. In 1891, Curie went to Paris for higher studies where she did her important scientific work. In June 1903, Curie won her first Nobel Prize for the discovery of spontaneous radioactivity. In 1911, Curie was awarded a second Nobel Prize for the discovery of Polonium and Radium. Same year, Curie met Albert Einstein.
Curie spent most of her time with radioactive elements the effects radiation were not known at the time. She carried radioactive test tubes in pocket and stored radioactive material in her drawer. Curie was also exposed to X-rays but never really acknowledged health risks.
As a result of long term radiation exposure in 1934, Curie died from Aplastic Anemia. Her body stopped producing new blood cells. Curie was exposed to so much radiation that her papers from 1890s are too dangerous to touch, even her cookbook is highly radioactive.
