If you’ve got a minute, we’ll tip our hand and show you the inner workings in this radial tipped fan demo. Take a look to learn how it stays clean even when moving dirty air.

The radial tipped fan can move clean or dirty air in industrial applications. The tipped blades allow the air to build energy as it moves, and keep particles from settling in the fan wheel. This makes the fan self-cleaning, which is especially helpful with saturated gas and particle-laden air.  In this one-minute video, Senior Application Engineer Chet White explains the difference.

We’re going to interrupt the balance process to show you a radial tipped wheel. So this wheel has radially tipped blades on it. And so that means that the blade is curved so the outer part of the blade is actually about radial width again the center hub. So this one curves, as you can see by this weld pattern, and it rotates again, as we’re looking at it, it rotates in the clockwise direction. So air is going to enter this blade actually on the front part of the curve, right in here, and it’s going to travel along that, so it actually builds energy as it travels along that blade path. That allows a fan like this to also be somewhat self-cleaning. You can move particle loads with a wheel like this, or saturated gasses, because this forward curved blade profile allows for it to self-clean itself on the blades and not for material to hang up.
