YOUTUBE HOBO BAG:
1. Working with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, and a size 9mm crochet hook,
chain 5, slip stitch to join.
2. Holding the yarn end along the outside of the ring, make 6 single crochet in the ring,
(enclosing the yarn at the base of the stitches.) Do not slip stitch to join.
3. Chain 1 and turn, make 2 single crochet in each stitch across.
4. Chain 1 and turn, *2 single crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the next
stitch, repeat from * across the row.
5. Repeat step 4.
6. Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row.
7. Chain 1 and turn, *single crochet in the next 2 stitches, 2 single crochet in the next
stitch, repeat from * across the row.
8. Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row.
9. Chain 1 and turn,* single crochet in the next 3 stitches, 2 single crochet in the next
stitch, repeat from * across.
10. Repeat step 8 and 9 until the semi-circle is as large as you would like your
bag to be.
Fasten off.
Make another identical piece.
Hold the two pieces together, and slip stitch to join along the curved edge.
Make the top band of the bag:
1. Working around the opening of the bag, *chain 1, single crochet in the next 2
stitches, skip the next stitch. Repeat from * around, slip stitch to join.
2. Repeat step 1.
3. Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, for 3 rows.
Fasten off. Weave the yarn ends into the finished work.
Make the handles:
WITH 3 STRANDS OF YARN, chain a cord of 60 stitches and fasten off. Make another identical cord.
Find the center front stitch of the bag. Beginning in the next stitch, weave the chain cord around the top of the bag and bring the end out in the stitch on the opposite side of the center stitch. (If necessary, leave 2 stitches between the 2 cords.) Bring all 4 ends of the cords together, and tie into a knot. Trim the yarn ends evenly to form a tassel.
To close up the bag, grasp one cord in each hand, and pull out so that you have a cord on each side of the bag. Now when you pull on the cords, it will automatically close up the bag, securing your items inside. The cords can be used as a shoulder strap.
