Today's recipe is a great breakfast/tiffin recipe made with yellow moong dal,no rice needed,also it gets ready really quickly.These idlis are super soft and yummy,its great for those who are looking to shed those extra kilos.

Ingredients
1 Cup of yellow moong dal
2 tsp clarified butter/ghee
1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
1/2 tsp of udid dal
5-6 fresh curry leaves chopped fine
1/2 tsp of asafoetida/hing
1 green chilli chopped fine
1/2 inch grated ginger
1/4 cup of fine semolina/rava
1/4 cup of finely chopped capsicum
1/4 cup of finely chopped coriander leaves
salt to taste
1/4 tsp of sugar
1/4 cup of yogurt/curd beaten /whisked
1/2 tsp of eno/fruit salts(alternatively 1 tsp of baking soda)
Some points to keep in mind
1. Wash the moong dal well & soak it in 3 cups of water for a min of 4 hours.after 4 hours drain out all the water & grind it with 1/4 cup of water to a very fine/smooth batter.
2.In addition to the capsicum you can add some finely chopped carrots,different coloured bell peppers/capsicum,corn or any vegetables of your choice.
3.Prepare your steamer by adding sufficient water & letting the water come to a boil,
4.Grease the idli tray with ghee/butter well.
5.Steam on a high flame for 20 mins.please keep a close eye on your timer .put the heat off after 20 mins but do not open the steamer for another 5 mins.after 5 mins take out the idli trays and let them cool a bit.then gently with a spoon,demold the idlis.
6.Enjoy these idlis with some sambhar or chutney of your choice,
Tip:I love adding a little yogurt /curd to my fresh coconut chutney for these idlis.mix the two well and make it lilke a dip ..amazing...
